Artist Statement I have been making art for as long as I can remember. My grandfather was an artist and sign painter and his influence set me on a path to study art as a profession. I received a graduate degree in art from Purdue University . After graduation I moved to Austin, Texas where I taught art for nearly 30 years. I moved to Mineral Point, Wisconsin in 2010 where I had an art gallery and studio for seven years. I now live in Madison, Wisconsin and I continue to show my work at art festivals and galleries. The images I paint communicate a humorous and cheerful look at life. I paint with acrylic on wood panel in a realistic style. The painting process begins by painting a thin layer of color than gradually building layers of paint until I achieve the desired color density. I hope my paintings make you smile.
